Overview
The Financial Economics program at the Georgetown University will equip you with the knowledge and skills to advance your career.
Key Features
You will start with the four core courses — microeconomics, macroeconomics, econometrics and data analysis — to build a strong foundation, providing you with a solid grasp of key theoretical models and empirical tools. You’ll complete specifically required courses in foundational areas in financial economics, including financial theory, financial markets and institutions, financial econometrics and monetary economics.
You will choose elective courses to explore contemporary economic problems, practical applications and advanced tools in financial and other areas of economics. Overall, you’ll gain skills to engage in empirical analyses, undertake original research projects and contribute to policy formulation and implementation.
To help ensure readiness for the quantitative demands of the program, a mandatory two-week session just before the fall semester reviews calculus, linear algebra and probability and statistics.
