Academic Requirements

You need the following GPA score:

Required score: 2.75

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 2.75 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

For IMC graduate students, the following types of aid are generally available:

    1. Federal Direct Student Loans
      • Must be enrolled at least half-time (a minimum of 4 credit hours in fall/spring and 3 credit hours in summer) during the term for which the loan is processed
      • Must submit Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)—this is available at www.fafsa.gov. The form is year specific and must be filed annually
      • Maximum annual amount is the lower of $20,500 or cost of education
      • Interest rates vary by year
    1. Federal Direct Grad PLUS Loans
      • Must be enrolled at least half-time during the term for which the loan is processed
      • Credit based loan
      • Must submit Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)—this is available at www.fafsa.gov. The form is year specific and must be filed annually
      • Must submit application for Grad PLUS—this is available at www.studentloans.gov
      • Maximum annual amount is the cost of attendance minus other aid (including Federal Direct Student Loan)
      • Interest rates vary by year
      • Repayment begins 60 days after disbursement, but borrower can apply for deferment
  1. Private Loans
    • Non-federal credit based loan
    • Must submit application directly to private lender; a list of lenders used previously by WVU students is available at http://financialaid.wvu.edu/aid-and-scholarships/loans/private-loans.
    • Interest rates and repayment provisions will vary
