Physician Assistants (PAs) are certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant Studies (NCCPA) and are licensed by the state. They are health professionals who practice medicine as team members with their supervising physicians. PAs deliver a broad range of medical and surgical services to diverse populations in rural and urban settings at Morehead State University.

Our physician assistant studies program will prepare you to become a well-rounded practitioner with a wealth of clinical knowledge and direct patient-care experience to conduct exams, diagnose and treat illnesses, order and interpret tests, counsel on preventive health care, assist in surgery, prescribe medications, and more. Our graduates achieve some of the highest pass rates on state licensure exams proving our program is dedicated to helping you become the most knowledgeable health care provider you can be.

General requirements
- Complete essays
- The essays are completed on the CASPA application. CASPA has a general essay which should be approximately 625 words asking, "Why are you interested in being a PA?". There may be additional essays required by the program which will be included on the CASPA application.
- Input all direct patient care, shadowing, volunteering, awards, leadership, and employment information.
- Three recommendation letters are required from:
- Physician or PA
- Academic Advisor or Professor (Post-Secondary)
- Any Medical or Academic professional (Post-Secondary)
- At least two references must be completed in order to be considered a complete application for review. All three must be received by the deadline to continue the evaluation for the interview. CASPA allows a maximum of 5 letters, however, the UKPA program only requires three as stated above. Applicants may have 2 additional letters in CASPA to complete the 5 recommendations.
