For some of you, this is the beginning of a new endeavor and for others, this is a continuation of work you have already begun in the human service field. For all of you, we hope this endeavor reflects your values and ethics of wanting to promote social and economic justice and to contribute to the improvement of human well-being.
Students in the University of Connecticut School of Social Work MSW program are educated in micro and macro practice methods which focus on the strengths of individuals, families, groups, communities and organizations. Building on this foundation, the School’smethod concentrations include specializations in Casework, Group Work, Community Organization, Policy Practice and Administration. With diversity in student, staff and faculty, the School is recognized as having strong programs dedicated to empowering students to recognize and challenge their stereotypes and prejudices while exploring the experiences of diverse social identities.
In addition to gaining knowledge and skills in practice interventions, the School offers unique opportunities to be involved inpolitical social work,international social work, and dual degrees in law, public health, divinity and public administration. The UConn School of Social Work is unique. Here, you have the opportunity to pursue a methods-based specialization in social work practice. You can choose an area of concentration — Casework, Group Work, Community Organization, Administration, or Policy Practice. Within your chosen area of concentration, you will learn specific skills and practices as they apply in a variety of professional settings.

You must hold a baccalaureate degree or its equivalent from a regionally accredited college or university.The Graduate School does not require a third-party credential evaluation, however we accept evaluations from the following services:
- NACES (National Association of Credential Evaluation Services) or
- AICE (Association of International Credential Evaluators)
If your degree is a 3 year bachelor’s degree from India, Canada, Australia, Sri Lanka or certain other countries, we will not consider the degree to be equivalent with a 4 year US bachelor’s degree.
