Program Details

The Accelerated Master's Degree Program in Transcultural Studies at University of Michigan is grounded in recent scholarship from humanities and social sciences disciplines that examines the flows of people, things, ideas, and practices across perceived cultural divides. It encourages students to explore methods for understanding connectivity, comparison, and translation across cultures with a curriculum that draws on courses in eleven of LSA’s exceptionally strong humanities and social sciences departments.

General requirements

To qualify for admission to the Transcultural Studies program, undergraduate students must be currently enrolled in the College of LSA and have completed five semesters of course work towards a bachelor’s degree.

Students must complete all requirements for their undergraduate major and the College of LSA degree in order to be awarded their BA/BS.

TCS students do not enroll in the Rackham Graduate School until their fifth year of study, and must be within 6 credit hours of completing the undergraduate degree at that time. Students may apply for their BA/BS degree at any time once the requirements are completed.
