Overview

The online professional master’s degree in Cultural Resource Management prepares students who already work in CRM, or who plan to do so, for full professional CRM anthropological work in tribal, state, and federal agencies, as well as in the private sector and in not-for-profit organizations. The program, with its focus on the Southwest culture area, offers courses that address the new developments, techniques, and technical literature of anthropology and related professional fields of work.

This program presents a unique and affordable alternative to traditional graduate programs in anthropology. It offers working adults an opportunity to pursue graduate education while continuing their employment in the CRM and related fields.

New Mexico Highlands University’s Cultural Resource Management program provides students with outstanding, affordable higher education. The online professional master’s degree program in CRM offers flexibility for working adults and those aspire to work in as CRM professionals. The anthropology program has a strong focus on the Southwest culture area, as well as to teaching and preserving cultures of the past and present. Our two graduate programs, our MA in Southwest Studies – anthropology concentration and our online professional master’s degree in CRM echo our regional expertise.

General requirements

GPA: When a student’s grade point average in undergraduate studies is below 3.0 s/he/ must complete the first 12 graduate credits earning a GPA of 3.0 or better. Certain programs may require that the student earn at least a B in each class of the 12 credits. See the discipline specific graduate handbook for more information or contact the Graduate Coordinator or Department Chair.
Bachelor’s Degree: A student in the final semester of undergraduate study at Highlands or at another regionally accredited institution may be admitted in provisional status pending receipt of the bachelor’s degree. The official transcript showing conferral of the undergraduate degree must be received by midterm of the first semester of graduate study.
