Overview

Central to the course’s objectives is the idea of the international manager who combines specialist knowledge of the role of management and management functions with a strong understanding of the social, political and ethical context of business.  Such understanding is essential in a globalised world where national differences persist and management of cross-cultural environments is demanded. The course aims to produce graduates who are capable of contributing to sustainable and ethically informed business success, in a highly competitive global environment.

This International Management programme from Cardiff University enables you to acquire specialist knowledge of international management whilst placing that subject knowledge within a wider organisational and contextual framework.

It will develop your ability to understand, design, conduct and evaluate empirical research through independent work leading to the submission of the International Management Project.

You will develop the ability to recognise and address ethical dilemmas and corporate social responsibility issues in international management, and to apply analytical and technical skills to resolving them.

GPA admission requirements GPA Your GPA, or Grade Point Average, is a number that indicates how well or how high you scored in your courses on average. Usually a GPA scales between 1.0 and 4.0, however different countries and universities can have different grading systems.
GRE admission requirements GRE® The GRE® General Test is a widely administered admissions test that measures the skills needed in today's graduate and business school programs worldwide. It contains three sections - Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, and Analytical Writing. Three scores are reported: a Verbal Reasoning score on a 130 - 170 score scale in one-point increments, a Quantitative Reasoning score on a 130 - 170 score scale in one-point increments, and an Analytical Writing score on a 0 - 6 score scale in half-point increments.
GMAT admission requirements GMAT The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is a test intended to assess certain analytical, writing, quantitative, verbal, and reading skills in written English for use in admission to a graduate management program, such as an MBA. GMAT contains 4 sections - Analytical Writing Assessment, Integrated Reasoning, Quantitative and Verbal. The score has a range from 200 - 800.

IELTS admission requirements IELTS The International English Language Test System (IELTS) tests your English-language proficiency on a scale of 1 – 9. The score refers to the combined average score of 4 subjects (writing, listening, speaking, and reading).

PTE Academic admission requirements PTE Academic PTE Academic (Pearson Test of English Academic) is a language test that enables students to demonstrate their writing, listening, speaking, and reading skills when applying to study in English. The score refers to a total score which ranges between 10 and 90.

General requirements

  • Candidates will normally be graduates with a 2:1 degree (GPA 3.0/4.0) in a humanities, social sciences or business programmes from a recognised institution. Alternative degree backgrounds and relevant work experience may also be considered.
  • Shortlisting process:  Candidates will be required to submit a personal statement of 500 words providing 3 reasons why the programme’s aims and objectives fit with their academic background, career aspirations and personal values.
  • Interview process: Shortlisted applicants will be interviewed, either in person or by Skype, to further explore their personal statement in order to establish their aptitude for the programme and their motivation.
