Overview
Key Features
Beyond foundational knowledge, the Nutrition and Dietetic Practice - RDN program at Thomas Jefferson University is designed to emphasize keystone aspects of dietetic practice: communication, interprofessional practice, sustainability, leadership, management, and research. In our program, students will be trained to look beyond the disease and see the whole patient. They will be required to examine the disparities in our healthcare system and consider how RDNs can help combat these inequities. We expect our graduates to be professionals who practice with integrity, compassion, and a commitment to equitable care and social justice advocacy.
The mission of the Master of Science in Nutrition & Dietetic Practice program at Thomas Jefferson University is to provide an educational experience that will prepare caring, competent, entry-level registered dietitian nutritionists for practice in diverse settings throughout the region, nation, and world. We are committed to providing our students a learning experience of the highest quality that emphasizes interprofessional practice, sustainability, and equity. We intend to inspire graduates to engage in lifelong learning and social justice advocacy. We aspire to create a diverse and inclusive environment, knowing this is imperative to achieving excellence in education and patient care, as it allows people to bring their whole selves to all classroom and professional interactions. We aim to provide our community with masters-prepared registered dietitian nutritionists who apply critical thinking and evidence-based nutrition information in an ethical, responsible, and collaborative manner. We engage in fair and open conduct that enhances student, faculty, and preceptor morale.
To develop graduates to be competent, highly qualified, entry-level, registered dietitian nutritionists who are well prepared to work in interdisciplinary teams and in a variety of practice settings.
