Qualities for a good physician assistant include but are not limited to: intelligence, an ability to understand and interact with people, a capacity for calm and reasoned judgment, and a demonstrated commitment to patient care.
An ideal physician assistant candidate will have a combination of life, educational, and work experience that demonstrates this commitment to patient care, an understanding of the PA profession, and an ability to perform in both a demanding academic and professional setting.

General requirements
- Degree: A bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited university or college is required. Applicants with degrees from any discipline are welcome to apply to the program as long as the prerequisite coursework is completed prior to matriculation
- GPA: The program requires an overall GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale and a cumulative GPA 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale in prerequisite coursework. Overall and science GPAs of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale are required.
