History
The University of Mount Union is the outgrowth of a town meeting held by forward-looking citizens of the village of Mount Union on October 4, 1846. At that time, the people gathered to hear Orville Nelson Hartshorn outline the need for a new institution in the area, where men and women could be educated with equal opportunity and where science would parallel the humanities.
Education
For many years Mount Union has claimed the distinction of being one of the first institutions to have a summer school. Started in 1870, this first summer school was actually a fourth term in the school year. Since that time, summer instruction has been offered each year at the institution.
Research
Atmospheric chemistry research involves the use of laser spectroscopic systems in a cavity ringdown configuration to detect sub-part-per-billion levels of gas phase reactive intermediates.
Career
Career Development's mission is to help students plan and prepare for life after graduation. We accomplish this by providing individual advising appointments and assessments, hosting recruiting and networking events, electronically posting opportunities through our career management system, coordinating mock interviews, and making formal presentations to groups (class visits, information sessions, club meetings, preview, and orientation, etc.).
