Overview

The Master of Global Affairs (MGA) is a full-time, two-year professional degree program that connects theory, practice and policy. You’ll gain broad interdisciplinary training in global affairs, specialized expertise in your chosen concentration, and hands-on experience through a fully-funded field placement.

Majors

As a master of global affairs student, you will choose from one of three distinctive majors:

Governance and Policy: For students who seek to design and manage broad-scale programs for global change.
Sustainable Development (STEM Designated): For students pursuing careers as development practitioners or policymakers.

International Peace Studies: For students dedicated to sustainable peace and justice.

All students accepted into the Master of Global Affairs are considered for generous financial support. This includes a variety of merit-based scholarships ranging from partial tuition funding to full-tuition scholarships and stipends for living expenses.

Fully Funded Field Experiences

As part of the Master of Global Affairs (MGA) curriculum, every student engages in extensive hands-on fieldwork with global partners.

These immersive projects allow you to test ideas, contribute to communities and shape your professional identity as a global practitioner.

You will also develop practical skills—including cross-cultural communication, project management and adaptive problem-solving—that prepare you for careers across sectors, from NGOs and government to private industry and social enterprise.

Curriculum:

This 2-year professional degree will prepare you for skilled, effective leadership and careers in government, nongovernmental and civil society organizations and the private sector.

The Master of Global Affairs integrates rigorous professional training, close engagement with policymakers, multi-disciplinary faculty and students from around the world, and extended fieldwork alongside partners — in Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and Washington, DC — working to address global challenges.
