Overview
Overview
The Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling at Indiana University Kokomo combines rigorous coursework with the required clinical experience you’ll need to earn your license to become a mental health counselor.
During your time here, you’ll have instruction on a variety of subjects including psychopathology, individual and group counseling, personality theory, and applicable laws and regulations. This hybrid program, developed in cooperation with IU East, will take place so that you will attend one of the three campuses for your face-to-face courses and join with students from the other campuses for your online courses.
To foster community, you’ll work alongside a cohort of 20 students for two years to achieve this degree. Classes start in the fall semester on even years. To complete the coursework and the 1,000 required hours of clinical experience, you will need to be available for six straight semesters beginning in the fall term and continuing each spring and summer until program completion.
Assistance will be available to help you find a placement to complete your clinical hours. We have internship agreements with six locations throughout central Indiana to assist you with placement but we are always open to developing others.
