Wear the many “hats” required of a special educator, e.g., teacher, collaborator, data taker, behavioral specialist, advocate

Make the accommodations and/or modifications necessary in creating individualized learning plans;

Create learning environments that are equitable, nurturing, and joyful;

Collaborate with parents and school professionals in supporting children/youth with disabilities;

Support children/youth in both school and home contexts

Develop, implement, evaluate, and adjust Positive Behavioral Support plans

Program Learning Outcomes

Apply understandings of Learner Development, Learning Differences, and Knowledge of Students.

Create and maintain classroom routines and environments that promote learning, inclusivity, respect, and health/safety.

Demonstrate and apply curricular content knowledge to design and organize effective learning experiences.

Select and implement scientifically validated instructional approaches to meet individual learning needs.

Collect and analyze assessment data from multiple measures to make data-based decisions about student learning needs, service eligibility, and instructional modifications.
