The ALA-accredited Master of Science with a major in Information Science Online (MS-IS) at University of North Texas is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed for them to function as information professionals in a variety of information agencies, including Internet service providers, Web search portals, information processing services, or electronic publishing. 


Students earning this degree in Information Science Online at University of North Texas will be prepared for a wide range of careers, such as information broker, database analyst, chief information officer, user experience designer, information architect, knowledge manager, system librarian, health informatics specialist, information security analyst, web developer/web content manager, and information systems specialist.

  • You will need to meet the Graduate School minimum qualifications before you will be considered for admission to the Department of Information Science.
  • Submit official transcripts from all colleges attended.

The Information Science department will verify minimum grade point average meets one of the following requirements:

  • 3.0 on the last 60 hours of a bachelor's degree,
  • 3.0 cumulative undergraduate GPA,
  • a 3.5 GPA on a completed master's degree.
