Overview
What you'll work on
In the Applied Statistics program of Michigan Technological University students focus on utilizing statistical theory and methods to address the practical problems of an evolving society. Fields as diverse as medicine, ecology, business, and engineering generate massive amounts of data; statisticians organize and interpret that data for the benefit of individual organizations and of the world.
Where you'll work
Recent graduates have landed positions in national laboratories, academia, and private industries and firms. While on campus, you'll study and research in one of our many interdisciplinary research centers and institutes.
Who you'll work with
You’ll work in teams with your peers and faculty, using popular, state-of-the-art software to solve authentic problems with real data to impact society. Nearly 40 faculty members in the Department of Mathematical Sciences conduct research on the best mathematical and statistical approaches to problems in a variety of areas. Both master’s and doctoral students contribute to faculty-led research projects while taking advanced coursework in statistics.
