Overview
This distance education format from Auburn University marries traditional educational approaches with real world application leading to a state of the art interactive learning experience – the Brewing Practicum.
To this end, the program has partnered with Oskar Blues Brewing, the Alabama Brewing Industry, and Craft Brewers nationally, to showcase best practices in all aspects of the brewing process and brewing industry.
Education
The Brewing Science and Operations program is also proud to partner with Oskar Blues on the award of a few targeted scholarship opportunities.
Upon successful completion of the Graduate Certificate Program, graduates will be eligible to sit for the Institute of Brewing and Distilling’s (IBD) General Certificate (GC) examinations. Located in the United Kingdom, the IBD is the world’s leading organization dedicated to the education and training needs of brewers and distillers.

General requirements
- Students who successfully complete all course requirements will be awarded the Graduate Certificate Program at the end of year one and the MS at the end of year two.
- All students are strongly encouraged to apply for the MS Program in the first instance and make their progress determination at the end of year one.
- Attached to this application you must provide the following:
- Your official Four-Year Degree Undergraduate Transcripts showing Grade Point Average. This must be ordered online and sent directly to the Auburn University Graduate School.
- Three letters of recommendation from referees, who are familiar with your work ethic, interest in brewing, and ability to be successful in a graduate program. A mix of personal, professional and/or academic is acceptable.
- A personal statement expressing your reasons for pursuing either program – 1500 words max. This must be sent via email to the Program Director.
