The Education Dual Endorsement program from Saint Xavier University, allows you to move up in your current career more quickly or qualify for a new career as a special educator (K to age 21), ESL educator (pre-K to grade 12) or a bilingual educator (pre-K to grade 12).

As a teacher who holds a PEL, you can gain instructional and assessment strategies for immediate application in your classroom. Through our 100-percent online classes, you will:

  • Explore cultural and linguistic assets of communities in order to adapt your teaching style accordingly to specific needs and situations.
  • Learn instructional strategies for effective instruction for all students.
  • Develop a classroom management plan so that you'll be better prepared for your students.
  • Plan for teaching language and content concurrently for the betterment of your students.
  • Design family involvement strategies for parents and caretakers to become strongly invested in the learning process, as well as ways to differentiate instruction and help students meet learning standards.
  • Provide equitable, inclusive and culturally validating environments, as you consider how being "different" affects students who have disabilities.
  • Obtain knowledge of law, policies, service delivery models and instruction of emerging bilingual students.

General requirements

  • A completed online application.
    • Completed recommendation forms.
    • Official results of the appropriate graduate admission test.
    • A completed and notarized SXU Affidavit of Support (PDF).
    • An official scholarship letter or a notarized bank statement or bank letter demonstrating capacity to provide financial support for at least one year of attendance at SXU. 
    • Non-native English speaking applicants must submit official test scores from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or official results from the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), or proof of completion of ELS course level 112.
    • A "course-by-course" transcript evaluation report by an approved educational credential evaluator, for all colleges or universities attended abroad to determine U.S. equivalency. 
    • Photocopies or facsimiles of identification and expiration pages of the student's passport. 
    • Additional requirements may apply, depending on program.
