The Master of Arts in Latin American and Caribbean Studies from Florida International University is particularly valuable to those students whose research and professional interests cannot be accommodated within a single discipline. The flexible program encourages students to develop their own concentration based on individual interests, expertise, and academic and professional goals.

The interdisciplinary curriculum prepares students for careers that require in-depth knowledge of Latin America and the Caribbean, its peoples and societies. Students may choose courses taught by more than 300 interdisciplinary faculty associates from various departments and across colleges and schools at FIU.

Students may enroll in joint Master’s degree programs in International Business or Law, saving both time and money. Students have access to FIU’s extensive Latin American and Caribbean library holdings and resources including FIU Special Collections, the Diaz Ayala Cuban and Latin American Popular Music Collection, and the Digital Library of the Caribbean.

Alumni are employed in a variety of public and private industries in the U.S. and abroad. They currently serve as research directors, teachers, NGO administrators, diplomatic representatives, policy-makers, and small business owners. Many alumni of the program have also gone on to pursue PhDs and many have excelled in careers in higher education.
