Overview

The coursework offered by this program allows students to acquire and refine their skills across a broad spectrum of theoretical and applied computer science topics. The MS in Computer Science offered by Florida International University (FIU) curriculum prepares students with the necessary skills for advancing their careers across a range of industry applications, such as web application development, business analytics, mobile application development, data science and artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, robotics, human-machine interfaces, among others. Students graduating from this program will also possess skills in effective written and oral communication, problem-solving, decision-making, professional ethics, and working effectively in diverse teams.

Thesis Option

This option requires the completion of a master’s thesis (6 thesis credits) in addition to the 9 graduate courses (15 credits of required courses and 15 credits of elective courses). Students may commence work on the master’s thesis at any time; however, thesis credits taken prior to the approval of the M-2 form will not count toward the 6 credits of master’s thesis required to complete the degree.
