Program Learning Outcomes after the Public Administration - State and Local Government program from Southern Utah University.

SUU MPA Students will demonstrate the following core abilities:
to lead and manage in the public interest;
to participate in, and contribute to, the policy process;
to analyze, synthesize, think critically, solve problems and make evidence informed decisions in a complex and dynamic environment;
to articulate, apply, and advance a public service perspective;
to communicate and interact productively and in culturally responsive ways with a diverse and changing workforce and society at large.

Students in the State and Local Government Emphasis will demonstrate the following additional abilities:

Identify and apply relevant legal issues and regulations for state and local governments;
Demonstrate ability to manage state and local government resources and programs in an effective and ethical manner;
Communicate and coordinate between different levels of government, the private sector, and the general public

A Letter of Intent written by the applicant
The Letter of Intent is an opportunity for the prospective student to introduce him/herself to the MPA faculty and is closely reviewed during the admissions process. The Letter of Intent should include information such as prior volunteer activities, work or academic experiences, career interests, and why the applicant would like to pursue an MPA at SUU.

Receipt of three (3) professional references (Applicants with an undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher need only submit a list of references with contact information. Applicants with a GPA below 3.0 must submit letters of reference.
