The UMass Dartmouth online Master of Public Policy (MPP) program provides preparation for advancement or employment in state, federal and municipal governments. The course of study focuses on policy analysis, applied research and public management skills. The MPP degree is offered fully online. UMass Dartmouth online Master of Public Policy students must complete 36 credits including an internship to graduate. During their final semester, students present a professional portfolio for faculty review and approval.

Academic Requirements

You need the following GPA score:

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 3 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

General Requirements

  • Statement of purpose (minimum 300 words): indicate your graduate study objectives, research/creative interests and experience, undergraduate and graduate experience, and business or industry experience, as applicable. We will use this essay to assess how well your academic interests and long-range goals match the academic program to which you are applying. If you are also applying for a teaching or research assistantship, include any special skills or experience that would assist us in our decision. Be sure that your name and the name of your desired program appear on the first page.
