    The GRE® General Test is a widely administered admissions test that measures the skills needed in today's graduate and business school programs worldwide. The GRE® General Test contains three sections - Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, and Analytical Writing. Three scores are reported: a Verbal Reasoning score on a 130 - 170 score scale in one-point increments, a Quantitative Reasoning score on a 130 - 170 score scale in one-point increments, and an Analytical Writing score on a 0 - 6 score scale in half-point increments.

General Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
  • Official transcripts from all college-level institutions attended, regardless of number of credits earned or if the grades appear on your home institution's transcript, must be submitted directly to SOPHAS.
  • International academic records must undergo a course-by-course credential evaluation via WES. 
  • Work experience: none required
  • Complete SOPHAS application
  • Sufficient prior coursework in the biological sciences
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • Applicants should have at least two academic recommendations of the three that are required. The third can be professional.
  • Personal statement of professional goals
  • Official MCAT or GRE score
