The Criminal Justice program at Guilford College will prepare you to make a more meaningful contribution to public safety and security and to the wellbeing of your community. It also:
- Provides graduate level, in-depth study of criminal justice in preparation for a career or career enhancement
- Offers interdisciplinary perspectives relevant to the advanced study of criminal justice
- Offers a distinctive curriculum that’s theoretically grounded, empirically rigorous and policy-oriented (i.e., it draws upon the evidence-based and problem-solving traditions of the field to address complex questions of crime causation, control and prevention)
- Emphasizes advanced critical thinking, written and verbal communication and research into contemporary issues, such as police discretion, use of force, racial profiling, mandatory minimum sentencing and the death penalty

General requirements
- Have earned a baccalaureate degree in a social or behavioral science from an accredited college or university.
- Have earned a grade point average of 3.0 (on a scale of 4.0) in their most recent two years of undergraduate work.
- You may choose to take the GRE examination, but it is optional for admission.
- Complete the Guilford College Master of Criminal Justice application.
- Submit a statement of purpose.
- Submit a resume.
- Two letters of recommendation are required. A link to a digital form will be sent to the recommending persons who you identify on your application. They will respond to a series of questions, and they can also upload a letter. They should address your ability to successfully complete a graduate level program.
- Students whose undergraduate degree is in a language other than English must submit TOEFL score.
