The Science Education Department prepares undergraduate and graduate students to teach Middle Childhood/Adolescence Education: Biology, Chemistry (Grades 5-12), or Physics (Grades 7-12).

Our Middle Childhood and Adolescence Education Science - Chemistry (Grades 5-12) program at Manhattanville College incorporates standards as expressed in the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), and the science and technology requirements of New York State. Grounded in a philosophy of every child a scientist, we prepare our teacher candidates to deliver inquiry and problem-based instruction in their classrooms to develop critical thinking and empirical reasoning skills for the 21st Century. We emphasize a hands-on, minds-on, active learning approach in the classroom.
