Overview

The Special Education multicategorical approach prepares you to pursue positions as a K-12 special education teacher, special education coordinator or private practitioner, with students who have disabilities that range from mild to severe and profound.

Features

The program offered by the Saint Xavier University also includes the basic foundations of the discipline and courses in diagnostic assessment, language, curriculum adaptations and modifications, behavior management, learning strategies and more. Completion of the degree leads to Illinois LBS-I teaching licensure.

Field experiences will prepare you for your future career through direct obvservation and learning. Designated sites are provided by SXU's Education Department, though if you work at a school, you may use your school for a portion of your field experiences.

A completed and notarized SXU Affidavit of Support (PDF).

An official scholarship letter or a notarized bank statement or bank letter demonstrating capacity to provide financial support for at least one year of attendance at SXU.

A "course-by-course" transcript evaluation report by an approved educational credential evaluator, for all colleges or universities attended abroad to determine U.S. equivalency.

Photocopies or facsimiles of identification and expiration pages of the student's passport.
