The Reading Education Program is designed to prepare teachers, clinicians, supervisors, directors and coordinators of reading for school systems.

Overview

The program provides an in-depth view of reading research, theories, and the application of theory to classroom teaching. Methods and theories studied in the program are based on sound and current scientific research.

The Reading Endorsement Certificate program is designed to meet the needs of teachers K-12 who want to increase their effectiveness in the teaching of reading. This program addresses the needs expressed by the Florida State Department of Education. The program includes five classes which will provide an in depth examination of reading research, theory and the application on sound and current scientific research.

GRE admission requirements GRE® The GRE® General Test is a widely administered admissions test that measures the skills needed in today's graduate and business school programs worldwide. It contains three sections - Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, and Analytical Writing. Three scores are reported: a Verbal Reasoning score on a 130 - 170 score scale in one-point increments, a Quantitative Reasoning score on a 130 - 170 score scale in one-point increments, and an Analytical Writing score on a 0 - 6 score scale in half-point increments.

TOEFL admission requirements TOEFL® IBT The TOEFL iBT® is given online through the internet at designated testing site. The test measures your English-language abilities in an academic setting.   • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a regionally-accredited institution 
  • A current Professional Educator’s Certificate (if certificate is not from Florida, applicants must  provide proof of successful passage of the Florida Teacher Certification Examination (FCTE)  General Knowledge Test (GKT)
  • A grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or greater in all undergraduate upper division (upper 60 hours) work toward the baccalaureate degree
