About

This thesis-based degree provides graduate training in conservation, biodiversity, organismal biology, taxonomy and ecology. Graduates of this program find careers in research and management of natural resources ranging from aquaria to zoos and agencies to botanical gardens.

Overview

These skill sets will be applicable to research and management of other natural areas throughout the U.S. Students successfully completing this degree will be eligible for jobs in conservation biology at local, regional, state, and federal government agencies, at non-profit agencies that protect natural resources, at environmental consulting firms, and at aquaria, and zoological and botanical gardens involved in conservation initiatives. Graduates of our program will also be prepared to teach biology, conservation, and ecology courses at the undergraduate level, or pursue Ph.D. research in conservation biology.
