GRE admission requirements GRE® The GRE® General Test is a widely administered admissions test that measures the skills needed in today's graduate and business school programs worldwide. It contains three sections - Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, and Analytical Writing. Three scores are reported: a Verbal Reasoning score on a 130 - 170 score scale in one-point increments, a Quantitative Reasoning score on a 130 - 170 score scale in one-point increments, and an Analytical Writing score on a 0 - 6 score scale in half-point increments.

The score refers to a total score which ranges between 10 and 90.

General requirements

  • Degree from an institution accredited by a recognized regional accrediting agency in the  United States. If you are pursuing a Master's degree, a Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Appropriate academic background in or for the program in which graduate study will be done.  For a Master's degree, an undergraduate cumulative average of at least 3.0 
  • Recommendation of the graduate program coordinator. Specific graduate programs may have higher admission standards and/or require scores on standardized examinations such as the GRE (Graduate  Record Examination) or GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) as well as letters of recommendation.
