Special educators are equipped with knowledge to help students with disabilities. They influence the academic and social/behavioral direction of students and help guide their families along the pathways of success for their children. The Special Education program of Andrews University gives students experience in a wide variety of special education settings as well as teaching experience in the primary and secondary setting.
Learning Disabilities K-12 Endorsement
For Michigan teachers, completion of required coursework leads to a Michigan State Teaching Endorsement in Special Education in the area of Learning Disabilities and a Master of Science in Special Education.

- A bachelors degree (or non-U.S. equivalent) from an accredited institution a minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.60 (applicants with lower GPA may be admitted upon consideration of the composite profile).
- Two Recommendations from professionals such as advisors, major professors and employers.
- Resume describing employment, research or special projects.
- Statement of Purpose reflecting your philosophical perspective, personal, professional and academic goals, and reasons for seeking the graduate program.
- TOEFL, IELTS or PTE (academic): Students whose language of education is not English must submit English proficiency test scores.
