Overview
The Business Administration and Health Services Administration program of University of Michigan - Dearborn takes advantage of many areas of overlap between the two curricula, and allows students to receive both degrees upon completion of 82 graduate credits.
The MHSA focuses on the organization, financing, marketing, and management of health care institutions and the delivery of personal health services in the United States. The program prepares students for management careers in the unique environment of health care, including careers in health systems, hospital, clinic, and emergency services management. The MHSA degree is also appropriate for those seeking positions as planners, policy analysts, or consultants focusing on the financing, organization, quality and delivery of personal health services in either the public or the private sector.
The MBA offers a number of skills beyond the MHSA, including expanded coverage of finance, marketing, and strategy as practiced in industries other than health care. It is valuable to understand the management of for-profit corporations in health care, and it provides a broader foundation for senior management positions in all sectors.
