Overview
Choose a concentration in mental performance or human performance. One of the most unique aspects of our Exercise and Sport Sciences program at Ithaca College is your ability to integrate biomechanics, exercise physiology, motor behavior, and sport psychology fields of study.
This holistic approach broadens your skill sets focusing on treating/training clients with a focus on prevention and optimizing well being and performance. It is our belief that in order to maximize performance — whether working with clients in the hospital or athletes in the Olympic stadium — both the body mind need to be addressed.
What you will study
Students in the human performance concentration, take coursework in all disciplines with hands on experiences in lab and field testing in strength & conditioning, exercise physiology, and biomechanics. Students broaden their skill set to work with clients and athletes and have a culminating capstone experience working with a real world client/athlete.
Students in mental performance can focus on course work and experiences leading towards C.M.P.C certification or take courses to expand their mental performance toolbox for working with teams, athletes, and clients as an athletic trainer, coach, or exercise professional.
