The M.Ed. program with an emphasis in Innovation in Education at Elon University is part-time and designed for teachers who are graduates of accredited institutions and initially licensed to teach. The program has both face-to-face and online/hybrid courses.


Both programs require a total of 33 semester hours. The Education program at Elon University is designed for experienced teachers who are graduates of accredited institutions and initially licensed to teach.

The experienced teachers who enter Elon’s Master of Education program are committed to their careers in education and have a strong desire to broaden their professional knowledge and skills. General requirements

  • Minimum GPA of 2.5 for undergraduate work or GPA of 3.0 for the last 60 hours or for all the courses in the major
  • Official transcripts of all undergraduate and any graduate studies completed or taken
  • Minimum Miller Analogies Test (MAT) score of 380 or combined verbal and quantitative score of 286 on the Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) taken within the last five years
  • Recognized teaching license or commitment to achieving licensure. 
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • A completed application form with a $50 nonrefundable fee 
  • The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is required unless English is the student’s native language or the language of instruction.
