A specialized masters degree which prepares students wishing to pursue chaplaincy as a career. In addition to coursework, two units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) are also required. Our goal is to prepare chaplains who can model the teaching and healing ministry of Jesus Christ and who are trained at the highest level of professionalism, in preparation for board certification by APC.

About

Loma Linda University’s MS in Chaplaincy program is a professional degree that prepares students for ministry as chaplains. It combines foundational theological knowledge with specialty training and clinical experience. It is a unique and comprehensive master’s degree which meets all requirements for employment as a chaplain at the associates’ level, as defined by the Association of Professional Chaplains (APC).

Possible Careers: Graduates will meet the requirements for employment as a chaplain at the Associate Level, as defined by the Association of Professional Chaplains (APC). Chaplains may choose careers in healthcare, the military, education, or the corrections system.

Academic Requirements

You need the following GPA score:

Required score: 3

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 3 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).
