About

Loma Linda University’s MA in Bioethics program provides a dynamic, interdisciplinary approach to exploring historic traditions of ethical thought while also developing critical skills for dealing with contemporary, moral, and social issues facing society today. An integral part of the program is the opportunity to gain clinical experience while learning from experienced, qualified professors, all within a Christian context and perspective.

Students may choose to enroll in this program concurrently with the following other programs: Medicine (MD), Dentistry (DDS), Pharmacy (PharmD), PhD in Clinical Psychology, Psychology (PsyD), PhD in Nursing, PhD in Social Policy & Social Research.

A post-baccalaureate certificate program is also available for students who wish to complete only the coursework within the Program.

    The IELTS – or the International English Language Test System – tests your English-language abilities (writing, listening, speaking, and reading) on a scale of 1.00–9.00. Academic Requirements

You need the following GPA score:

Required score: 3.3

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 3.3 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally-accredited institution; minimum 3.3 gpa
  • GRE scores with following minimums:
  • 60th percentile on verbal and quantitative sections
  • 4.0 out of 6.0 on the analytical writing section
    • An 800-word essay on the applicant’s background and goals, and how a bioethics degree would further these goals
    • An admissions interview
    • International: Internet-based TOEFL test score of 83 or higher (computer and paper-based tests vary)
