We offer a master degree in Nursing at the University of Missouri - Kansas City. The MSN prepared Nurse Practitioner is ready to assume responsibility and accountability for the health promotion, assessment, diagnosis, and management of patient problems including the prescription of pharmacologic agents within a specialty area of clinical practice such as Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP), Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP), Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP), Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), and Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (AGNP).
The MSN prepared Nurse Educator (NE) is prepared for a leadership role in the academic setting, health care facility, staff development, and/or the community as a health care educator. The Nurse Educator is prepared to develop, deliver, and assess curriculum in a variety of settings.

General requirements
- BSN or MSN from a college or university nationally recognized by a nursing accrediting agency (CCNE or ACEN).
- The GPA required for admission is a 3.2 on a 4.0 scale (calculated on the last 60 hours of their BSN degree) or a minimum of 3.2 for their MSN.
- Current unencumbered licensure in the state in which the student completes clinical requirements.
- The following two courses are pre-requisites to progression in the MSN and DNP program; however they can be taken at UMKC along with your program of study in the first semester (it is strongly recommended to complete prior to applying): Graduate level statistics course with a minimum grade of B. A free-standing undergraduate health assessment course.
- Personal interviews are required.
