The M.S. in Atmospheric Science at University of Nevada, Reno prepares students for researching in air pollution, atmospheric chemistry, cloud and aerosol physics, instrument development, atmospheric optics and acoustics, mesoscale meteorology, numerical modeling, fire climatology and other topics.

Overview

The Atmospheric Science program offered by University of Nevada, Reno encompasses many areas of study that explore the atmosphere's physical characteristics, motions and processes, and how these influence all aspects of the environment and human life.

Atmospheric scientists interpret and predict weather patterns, analyze climate trends, monitor air quality, working in a wide variety of agencies, laboratories, businesses and educational institutions.

During our Atmospheric Science program offered by University of Nevada, Reno students will be able to:

  • demonstrate knowledge of theoretical and observational aspects of Atmospheric Sciences.
  • engage with the observational and theoretical aspects of research studies (numerical and graphical analysis of data and modeling results, writing reports, operating and developing instruments, working with models, etc.).
  • demonstrate achievement in communication skills.
