Overview

Course work and clinical experiences at the master’s degree program in Athletic Training at the University of Kentucky are designed to develop skills necessary to conduct research and increase proficiency in injury prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation. Graduates are prepared to become critical consumers of research and accepted clinical practices, advanced health care providers, and leaders in the clinical educational, and research endeavors of the profession.

What is an Athletic Trainer?

Athletic trainers (ATs) are highly qualified, multi-skilled health care professionals who collaborate with physicians to provide preventative services, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions. Athletic trainers work under the direction of a physician as prescribed by state licensure statutes.
