Overview
The Education (Science Education) degree at the University of Georgia does not qualify you for initial certification or an upgrade of existing certification. It consists of a minimum of 30 semester hours of graduate credit, including a thesis.
Science education at the University of Georgia College of Education emphasizes curriculum and teaching practices from the most current research, aligning closely with state and national standards, including those established by the National Science Teachers Association and the Next Generation Science Standards.

Curriculum
As a student in this master's program, you will take courses in educational research, teaching strategies, curriculum, integration of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), and other science education-related topics, in addition to graduate-level courses in your primary science content field. With permission of your instructor, you may take doctoral-level courses in science education.
You may take most of your science education courses in the evening or during the summer, with some available online. Or, choose courses that may be offered during the academic year during the day. The capstone requirement for the degree is a thesis, the result of an original research project related to your interests.
