Overview
We designed our master of arts degree program in Education (Mathematics Education) at the University of Georgia for students with a strong mathematics background or a background in mathematics education who are interested in doing research for a thesis.

Curriculum
Our program provides you an opportunity to strengthen your mathematics background, develop your research skills, and deepen your educational approach. Through coursework and individual faculty guidance, you will develop the skills needed to conduct original research, making this degree a good precursor to a doctoral degree.
You will take classes in three distinct areas:
- Educational Psychology: Learn the foundations of human development, motivation, and cognition for education.
- Curriculum and Instruction: Focus on teaching school mathematics and developing mathematics curricula.
- Content Courses: Take mathematics, statistics, and mathematics education courses that deepen your understanding of the subject matter and develop pedagogical expertise.
Programme Structure
Our program of study consists of 30 hours and requires:
- 6 content courses (at least three of which must have a MATH prefix)
- 2 curriculum and instruction courses
- 1 educational psychology course
- 3 hours of research
- A thesis
