In addition to offering traditional Masters and Doctoral degrees in nearly every field of Mathematics, the School participates in several interdisciplinary graduate programs in collaboration with other units on campus. At any given time, we train over 80 PhD and 20 Masters students, as well as several visiting graduate students from all over the world.
Our graduate programs are designed so that students will not only obtain a broad perspective in advanced mathematics, through a solid foundation of fundamental courses, but also are exposed to the contemporary applications of mathematics in other disciplines. With about 30 graduate courses offered each Fall and Spring semester, not to mention numerous seminars and colloquia, there is always something of interest for everyone.
The Master of Science in Mathematics is meant to provide a rigorous introduction to graduate-level mathematics in a wide range of subdisciplines. Our MS program is aiming chiefly at students who will continue to a PhD in Mathematics, but who intend to strengthen their mathematical background prior to entering doctoral studies.
This program is offered by Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech).
At the same time, several doctoral students in other departments at Georgia Tech who have the need for advanced mathematical training find our program of interest and end up earning an MS in Mathematics as a secondary degree. The MS degree can be completed in three semesters, or even two, depending on the work load.

This programme accepts GRE® scores. However, it does not provide a recommended score range.
The GRE® General Test is a widely administered admissions test that measures the skills needed in today's graduate and business school programs worldwide. The GRE® General Test contains three sections - Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, and Analytical Writing. Three scores are reported: a Verbal Reasoning score on a 130 - 170 score scale in one-point increments, a Quantitative Reasoning score on a 130 - 170 score scale in one-point increments, and an Analytical Writing score on a 0 - 6 score scale in half-point increments.
Please set aside sufficient time — usually about two to three weeks — for Graduate Studies to receive and process your supporting documents. Although Graduate Studies typically processes received materials in about one to two business days, it can take much longer for issuing parties to gather and submit the requested documents.
When you submit your application, all domestic and international applicants will be asked to provide credit card information to pay the nonrefundable $75 application fee. The fee must be paid online and your application will not be received until it's paid.
The living costs include the total expenses per month, covering accommodation, public transportation, utilities (electricity, internet), books and groceries.
StudyPortals Tip: Students can search online for independent or external scholarships that can help fund their studies. Check the scholarships to see whether you are eligible to apply. Many scholarships are either merit-based or needs-based.
Together with the ISIC Association and British Council IELTS, Studyportals offers you the chance to receive up to £10000 to expand your horizon and study abroad. We want to ultimately encourage you to study abroad in order to experience and explore new countries, cultures and languages.
