History

Comenius University in Bratislava is the oldest university in the Slovak Republic. It was founded on June 27th, 1919 and follows the university tradition of the Academia Istropolitana which was established in Bratislava by Matthias Corvinus, the Hungarian King, in 1465.

    • Library services

    Comenius University Academic Library (CU AL) is a central scientific and information workplace focusing on information support of research and education at the Comenius University in Bratislava. Academic Library provides library, information, bibliographic, documentation, retrieval and other services for its users (mostly students, teaching staff and academic community).

    Medical services

    When enrolling for an ERASMUS mobility students have to provide evidence of a health insurance policy. 

    EU students have to travel to Slovakia with your European Health Insurance Card (E111 card).  This card will facilitate access to health care during your study stay in Slovakia. Students should request your Card from their home country's health service before you leave.

    Campus life

    • Družba Dormitory is situated near the city centre. The faculty of Natural Sciences is approximately a 5-minute walking distance. The Faculties of Law and Medicine are reachable by public transport in about 15 minutes. Our dormitory is ca 100 meters away from the riverbank of the Danube.

    Sports facilities

    The Faculty of Physical Education and Sport, Comenius University offers students possibility to rent various sport facilities  (tennis court, basketball court, beach volleyball court, mini-football field, football pitch) with discount prices (column „cena pre Školy“).

    Comenius University of Medicine in Bratislava, Slovakia is the largest university in Slovakia, with most of its faculties located in Bratislava. All programs offered by Comenius University of Medicine are accredited by the Accreditation Committee of the Ministry of Education of the Slovak Republic.

    Education in Slovakia is in general not on a great level. Although Comenius University is one of the best in the country it is not comparable with unis from austria for example. Teachers are not motivated due to low salaries and the studies in general do not give you many opportunities to grow.
