About

History

Örebro University has its roots in the higher education which was established in Örebro during the 1960s. In 1977, Örebro University College was established through a merger of the Uppsala University branch in Örebro, the Preschool Teaching Seminary, the College of Physical Education and Sport Science, and the College of Social Sciences. Örebro University was founded in 1999.

Education

We offer some 80 degree programmes at the undergraduate and Master’s levels as well as some 600 separate courses.

We work to ensure society benefits from the knowledge and opportunities we create. It is important too, that we reflect the needs and interests of society through our work and development.

Student services

You can contact the study advisors for guidance and advice concerning subjects, courses, programmes or the job market. You might for instance have questions about applications, admission requirements, admission levels, the orientation and content of courses, how to plan your studies, degrees etc.

Housing services

There are two student housing areas for exchange students in Örebro: Studentgatan and Tybble. In Studentgatan and Tybble, corridor-style living is offered.

Student housing is also offered in Västra Flygeln where a limited number of students can be offered corridor-style living in a more quiet setting on campus.

Library services

The library is a work and meeting place for university students, staff and other visitors. To create the best possible environment for study and work, the following apply:

Medical services

The Campus Health Centre is run by Previa and works with health promotion. We provide health advice and support from nurses, midwife, physiotherapists, psychologists and behaviourists.

Student Life

Campus life

  • Örebro University’s main campus is a concentrated campus area in a stimulating setting with teaching and research facilities that meet the needs of most disciplines.
  • Directly adjacent to Örebro University Hospital (USÖ) is Örebro University Medical Campus.
  • In Grythyttan, north of Örebro, is Örebro University's campus for teaching and research within culinary arts and hospitality science.
  • Campus Alfred Nobel in Karlskoga is located directly adjacent to Alfred Nobel Science Park. It hosts some of Örebro University School of Science and Technology's research activities. Among other things research is pursued into industrial 3D printing and 3D X-ray computed tomography.

Sports facilities

Give yourself a break in between exams and lectures. Wind down with workout - it works wonders for your body and soul. Örebro University campus area offers excellent sporting facilities. There are running tracks, football pitches, volleyball- and basketball courts, tennis courts, sport halls and a state of the art gym. Take a look at the jam-packed workout schedule with 70 sessions a week of step workout, Zumba classes, team cycling, yoga, and ball sports. Or why not join the events organised by the outdoor section, such as kayaking or long-distance ice skating.

Student clubs

The hub of student activity is Örebro Student Union, which organises social events for students. However, you will also find many opportunities to get involved in your local community as well as in outdoor and sporting events.

Örebro University is home to societies for students sharing similar interests. You can also keep an eye out around campus for flyers advertising societies and events.

However, Örebro have lots to offer off-campus. Discovering all your city and region has to offer and getting involved in your community can be a great way to make Swedish friends.
