History
On September 12, 1939, under the leadership of its first Rector, Reverend William P. Barr, C.M., and ten faculty members, St. John’s Seminary opened its doors to seventy candidates for the priesthood. The development of the grounds expanded swiftly.

Housing services
Seminarians live in 3 recently remodeled dormitories. Each room has bed, desk, closet and en-suite bathroom. There is a student lounge/television room in each dorm as well as a large common recreation room. Three meals a day are provided in the seminary refectory. Students may cook their own food in a student kitchen if they like.

Campus life

Sports facilities
St. John’s Seminary sits on 100 acres of orange, lemon and avocado groves. The seminary also boasts basketball, volleyball, handball and tennis courts, a lap pool, soccer/football field and a new weight room. Hiking and bike trails surround the property.

- St. John’s Seminary in California is accredited by the Commission on Accrediting of the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada (ATS).
- St. John’s is also accredited by the Senior College and University Commission of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).
