Otis opens its doors as the first independent professional school of art in Southern California, with a three-year course in drawing and painting, a two-year course in illustration, and another two-year course in design and applied arts. Tuition is $80 a year. Life drawing classes are separate for men and women but by 1919, they study together.

The Millard Sheets Library at Otis College of Art & Design is a relaxed atmosphere where creative students meet, study, browse, and find inspiration. Librarians have built a collection that supports the students and the curriculum and includes 40,000 books, 130,000 electronic books, online databases with millions of articles, and special collections that include 3,000 artists’ books.
The Student Health and Wellness Center provides medical and counseling services as well as health promotion programs to promote healthy living and engagement, to help students fulfill their artistic endeavors at Otis College.
While living on campus, you will exposed to residential programming, enjoy the convenience of living close to class, and develop values of respect and responsibility. On-campus housing allows you to maximize the student life experience by living amongst peers experiencing the same classes, learning academic and life skills, and being close to classes, labs, and offices.
