The world population reached 4 billion. And the country was embroiled in the Watergate Scandal that would bring down President Richard Nixon. It was in this atmosphere that the Naropa Institute offered its first two summer sessions in an old bus depot in Boulder, Colorado. More than 1,500 students attended, six times what had been anticipated.

Each campus houses a meditation hall for silent, sitting meditation. Meditation halls are available to students, faculty, staff, and visitors. The halls are open whenever the buildings are open.
We ensure access to the print and electronic reserve materials for your classes. We have a collection of more than 30,000 books and over 130,000 ebooks, periodicals and audiovisual materials – designed to comprehensively support the unique approach of Naropa’s courses of study. We also provide on-site and remote access to a core collection of online databases, full-text journals and finding aids.
Current Naropa faculty, students and staff can borrow audiovisual equipment such as multimedia projectors, laptops, digital voice and video recorders, and more from the library.
Naropa University was first accredited in 1986, and the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) re-affirmed Naropa University’s accreditation in September 2015.
