Research carried out at the University of Eastern Finland is of a high international standard and has significant impact, with an emphasis on interdisciplinarity. We have identified four global challenges for which we seek solutions through our interdisciplinary research and education.
Through multidisciplinary collaboration, we produce unique research data and open new horizons. With our strong vision, we are determined to find new solutions and new perspectives in the rapidly changing world.
We target the use of our human resources so as to promote the achievement of the university's strategic goals. Top-level researchers and teachers are recruited actively and the related practices are flexible. We offer our teachers and researchers a goal-oriented and incentivised career.
We develop leadership and the management of human resources so as to allow the staff to focus on duties that correspond to their expertise at different stages of their careers.

The University of Eastern Finland offers its staff and students the opportunity to utilise sports services with the intent of increasing general well-being.The Student Union aims to provide its members with fun experiences and the pure joy of exercise. It is not our intent to turn our members into serious athletes, but to encourage them to spontaneously partake in sports activities. The Student Union aims to achieve this by organising events such as the bi-annual sports afternoon, where members are given the opportunity to try out a variety of sports that suit various individual skills and tastes.
UEF is in such a lovely area, and the campus is absolutely beautiful. It has pretty much everything you could need on campus and has good transport links for buses and coaches, and it's one bus ride away from the city center. I haven't had much experience with the student support services but I've heard from friends that they're pretty good. UEF was pretty good with COVID...
