History
It was founded on February 26, 1887 as Troy State Normal School within the Alabama State University System by an Act of the Alabama Legislature. It is the flagship university of the Troy University System.
Education
Academic programs are supported by a variety of student services which promote the welfare of the individual student. Troy University's dedicated faculty and staff promote discovery and exploration of knowledge and its application to life-long success through effective teaching, service, creative partnerships, scholarship and research.

Research
The Institutional Research, Planning & Effectiveness (IRPE) office provides the services needed by Troy University for the primary functions of institutional research, planning, and effectiveness. Institutional research requires that analyses, reports, and surveys be prepared for the University, federal agencies, state agencies and other external agencies; that a facilities inventory be maintained; and that relevant University information be published online for ready access by University personnel.

I would recommend this Institute
It's a small campus but very nice. Different kind of housing options. You need a car or else you will be stuck on campus for a long time... nice recreation center and fun to watch all the sport teams. The dining hall food was ok but you can also buy food from Chick-fil-A and other restaurants on campus which is a plus
*Education.*Students welfare.*Health.*Entrepreneur
Likes: ** They have a strong focus on technical and vocational education. ** Most of the lecturers are patient enough and care deeply for the welfare of students. ** Life in Takoradi, WesternRegion, Ghana, where Takoradi Technical University is located, is very very affordable. Though some places in Western Region is expensive, there are other places that are inexpensive too, affordable for both students and professionals in higher ranks, like Takoradi, in the Western part of Ghana. Dislikes: ** Health care is not totally free and health services are not strictly enforced on us, students. Some of the healthcare services are free but others are charged. I suggest it would be better if the school would charge students fully for the healthcare services by addid extra to the fees. With that, we would enjoy expensive and inexpensive medication and services like health status, eye/ear/teeth check-up, scans or x-rays, pregnancy medications, allergy treatment, severe illness and massages. Also healthcare check-up result should be monthly requested, strictly from students by assigned health professionals. As well as monthly health talks should be going on in lecture halls to enable students to be conscious of check-ups. ** There are no entrepreneurial supports scheme(financials and BDS) for technical or vocational graduates. Some of the students, who did vocational or technical program, who need entrepreneurial support, should be supported financially(grants) and taken through business development services on their first stage as entrepreneurs. _ This is not present at TTU and we hope it could be established.

- The Health Center is located in Hamil Hall on the TROY campus.
- General care services are available to all Troy University students.
- A professional doctor, nurse practitioner, and trained nurses are prepared to take care of most of your general health needs.
- TROY campus students should consult with the health center first before going to an off-campus doctor or to the hospital.
Campus life
Troy University's Troy campus is located near downtown Troy. The campus sits along rolling hills with many old oak trees present along the streets and throughout campus. A very small lake named Lake Lagoona sits in front of university's Sorrell Chapel.
Sports facilities
The Trojan Fitness Center offers fitness machines, free weights, and cardiovascular machines. Trojan Games recreation room has two billiard tables, two table tennis tables, and a foosball game. The Natatorium houses an eight-lane 25-yard Olympic-style pool. The Recreation Center Gym has two basketball courts, a cardio room, a dance room, and a large outside pool. Wright Hall Gym, located adjacent to the Natatorium, offers a basketball court, two volleyball courts, and four badminton courts. The Intramural Fields consist of four flag football fields, two softball fields, and one soccer field.
