In 1875, the university was founded there as Shenandoah High School. Over the next 85 years, the institution changed names six times but always kept “Shenandoah” as part of its name.Dayton, Virginia was Shenandoah’s home for 85 years.

Career Services works with students in all aspects of the career development process, from choosing a major to career changes. Career development is a lifelong process influenced by all aspects of life, with the end result being high quality of life and personal satisfaction. Services offered include career exploration, experiential learning through internships, volunteer, summer and part-time opportunities, as well as resume building, interview skills workshops, graduate school search assistance, and job search assistance.

The Shenandoah University Libraries consist of the central Alson H. Smith, Jr. Library, and the branch Health Sciences Information Center located in the Health Professions Building on the grounds of the Winchester Medical Center. In addition to print collections, extensive e-book and online journal collections are available at either location and from off-campus as well.
Shenandoah University’s iMLearning program puts powerful, state-of-the-art Apple computer technology into the hands of our students, creating an interactive and information-rich learning environment focused on exploration and discovery.
Shenandoah University maintains an outpatient health center and provides outpatient medical treatment for acute and minor illness and injury. The Wilkins Wellness Center is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Friday. During hours of operation, the health center is staffed by a registered nurse.
Shenandoah University's Winchester Main Campus, founded in 1960, is home to all undergraduate students and many graduate programs. It features a vibrant, residential campus atmosphere. Student life, athletic, and performing arts events happen across campus daily.
The Brandt Student Center – with its game room, fitness web_students_on_campus_003center, food court, bookstore, and study areas along with the Mosaic Center, Office of Student Leadership and Development, and The [Not Just] Women’s Center – is the hub of campus life at Shenandoah University. It’s where students, faculty and staff members grab coffee, relax, host meetings, play or workout. A grand piano sits in the rotunda for anyone who feels moved to play.
Shenandoah University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award baccalaureate, masters, and doctorate degrees.
