Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM), located in Atlanta, Ga., was founded in 1975 as the Medical Education Program at Morehouse College. In 1981, MSM became an independently chartered institution. MSM is among the nation’s leading educators of primary care physicians and was recently recognized as the top institution among U.S. medical schools for our social mission.

Founded in 1975 as a 2-year Basic Sciences medical program at Morehouse College under the leadership of Dr. Louis Sullivan.

  • From the genetic epidemiology of cardiovascular disease in ethnic populations to the physiology of sleep disorders, Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM) leads rigorous basic science, clinical, community health, and policy research to improve the health and well-being of people everywhere.
  • Our research portfolio in cancer, cardiovascular disease, neuroscience and HIV/AIDS, among other topics impacting underserved communities, is well-established with significant funding from leading research funders such as National Institutes of Health and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Student services

  • OSLER is dedicated to providing services, including academic, career development, and learning skill development, to students from every degree program at MSM. 
  • The mission of the Office of Disability Services (ODS) is to provide individuals with disabilities equal opportunities and equal access to academic programs, employment and activities at Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM). ODS is committed to providing an equitable and inclusive environment for all members of the community.

Housing services

MSM will make a reasonable accommodation available to any qualified individual with a disability who requests an accommodation. A reasonable accommodation is designed to assist an employee or applicant in the performance of the essential functions of his or her job or MSM’s application requirements.

Library services

The MSM library includes collaborative communal space with writable walls, an open environment with natural light, a more inviting entry, updated finishes and contemporary furniture. A student lounge is located in close proximity to the library.

Comprised of more than 100 practicing physicians—who are all MSM faculty members—Morehouse Healthcare is an integral part of MSM's mission to provide excellence in medical training and high-quality, comprehensive care to the community. Our clinical practice includes interdisciplinary programs that advance total wellness and offer developmental, family-centered, and social services.
