Located atop one of the rolling hills in central New York’s “City of Seven Valleys,” the State University of New York College at Cortland was founded in 1868 as the Cortland Normal School. Among its earliest students is inventor and industrialist Elmer A. Sperry of Sperry-Rand Corp. fame. The original campus, located in downtown Cortland, was destroyed by a fire in 1919.

The office also disburses refunds from over payments, determines residency status, manages accounts on hold for past balances, calculates refunds due to withdrawals, oversees the international health insurance enrollment and performs other miscellaneous duties.

The goal of the SUNY Cortland Recreational Sports Department is to provide a variety of recreational opportunities that contribute to the physical, emotional and social health of all members of our College community. We will continuously develop programs and activities for our participants to increase their positive use of leisure time, improve their quality of life and encourage them to commit to a lifetime of fitness and recreation participation.
Fraternities and sororities are recognized by the College through the Campus Activities and Corey Union Office. Recognition allows chapters to have a relationship with the College along with active membership and involvement in the Greek system and its governing boards. In order to be recognized by the College, all fraternal organizations must be associated with a National fraternal organization.
State University of New York College at Cortland is accredited by The Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools.
Attending SUNY Cortland was the best four years of my life. I received an amazing education and had an amazing overall experience. I learned a lot about life not just within my schooling, I was apart of dance program that helped me with time management and gave me friends that I will have for the rest of my life. I would not change a thing about the time I had.
I love everything about my college. The atomsphere is extremely accepting. I feel really at home at SUNY Cortland.
